Lasered Lakes Area Large Cutting Boards

At Okoboji Trading Company we take pride in everything we do but especially when it reminds you of our beautiful area. Utilizing hardwoods such as cherry, maple, and hickory, all from a local mill, we handpick smaller pieces, like cutting boards, for the richness of the grain. We also use a natural process for finishing them called "seasoning". This natural method takes a little longer but is more environmentally friendly and brings out the beauty of these woods. The wood is heated for several hours to open the cells of the piece and then Howard Cutting Board Oil is applied. This process is to allow the natural mineral oils to deeply penetrate the wood. After 4 coats of oil we utilize Howard Butcher Block Conditioner, with additional food grade mineral oils, bee and carnauba wax, this gives each board additional strength and beauty. In all ten coats are applied and then hand buffed to give these boards a beautiful, natural, and strong finish.
